Torrid at Woodland Mall to Host Grand Opening Saturday

LUSH Plans Grand Reopening in October,
Woodland Expects Additional Expansions, Store Moves After the Holiday Season

Grand Rapids, Michigan, September 28, 2017 – Torrid, a new retailer at Woodland Mall, will host a grand opening event on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m.

Torrid, a retail destination for fashion apparel, accessories, swimwear and lingerie made for young, stylish women who wear sizes 10 to 30, will occupy a 3,000-square-foot space located in the former J.Jill space, across from the Apple store. J.Jill moved adjacent to Ann Taylor during the summer, due to growing demand and a need for more space.

Torrid is Woodland Mall’s first stand-alone store for plus-size fashions. Currently, Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, JCPenney and Macy’s have plus-size sections.

The first 50 individuals in line at the event will receive store gift cards. Additionally, those who sign up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday for PREIT Perks – which rewards shoppers for making purchases at Woodland Mall – will receive a $10-50 mall reward card.

“We are thrilled to welcome Torrid and be home to the brand’s third location in West Michigan,” said Lyndsey Hicks, Woodland Mall’s marketing director. “Not only is this addition a true display of the growth many brands are experiencing, but it also fills a need for plus-size fashion that our shoppers have been looking for.”

Torrid’s opening will be followed by the expansion and reopening of LUSH, the maker of natural hair, body and beauty products. The store will be closed starting Sept. 28 while moving merchandise to its new, larger location, occupying 2,402 square feet. LUSH will host a grand reopening on Sunday, Oct. 8.

The new space LUSH will occupy is two-and-a-half times larger than its previous location to accommodate strong demand for its products. It was formerly occupied by Premier by Dead Sea, which recently moved to a redesigned space near Macy’s Court.

“There have been several store renovations and expansions taking place in the mall during the last few months, and we are so excited to continue offering these must-have brands to our customers,” Hicks said. “We anticipate having several additional announcements about store expansions and relocations after this year’s holiday seasons.

“We think all these changes will serve our shoppers well, and look forward to continued growth.”
